Fisherman’s Navigator Doppel Bock
Appearance -Pours a dark carmely amber with a creamy color head that dissipates quickly leaving little to no lacing. Carbonation is strong, with a consistent bubbling from the base.
Smell - The beer smells very rich and malty with rich caramels and a warm slight biscuity smell. Holy shit, this beer does actually smell slightly like a biscuit… I am amazed… Truly amazed. The hops are light, with little to no note in the smell.
Taste - Very malty. A deep carmeling with a bready after taste. This beer doesn’t sit too heavily on the tongue as it dissipates through the mouth. The hops are again only slightly present, as is expected with this beer style. A nice rich mixture of malts.
Mouthfeel- Very creamy and almost marbley, with a light tingle of the constant carbonation. The heavy malts give the beer a chewy quality, while it remains smooth and watery. The beer barely touches the back of the tongue but the heavy malts sit heavily on the tongue.
Overall - Not a bad beer, very malty and carbonated. It’s a nice warming winter ale.
